Edit a subdomain

You can edit a subdomain record in your DNS (Domain Name System) zone file for a domain registered with ITEGY. Subdomains use a domain prefix, such as pics.coolexample.com to point to an IP address.

To add a subdomain that points to a domain name or URL, you can add a CNAME. To edit DNS for a domain not registered with ITEGY, you can use DNS hosting.

  1. Log in to your ITEGY account and open your product. (Need help opening your product?)
  2. From the Domain Manager, select your domain name from the list to access the Domain Settings page.
  3. Scroll down to the Additional Settings section and select Manage DNS.

  4. On the DNS Management page, next to the record you wish to edit, click the edit dns pencil icon pencil icon.

    Note: Don't see the pencil icon? Check these settings or products:
    • Do you own Search Engine Visibility – Contact customer support
    • Is domain forwarding turned on?
    • Is the domain connected to 3rd party site (e.g., Squarespace or LinkedIn)? Visit that site to disconnect it.
    • Is a firewall turned on in Website Security? Edit your IP address

  5. Edit the fields as needed:

    HostThe host name, or prefix, the subdomain links to.

    If you enter @ for the host, this will change the IP address for your root domain.

    Points toThe IP address you are setting as the destination for the host
    TTLHow long the server should cache information
  7. Click Save to complete the process.
  8. Note: All DNS changes can take 24 - 48 hours to fully update across global networks.
