Change a domain in WordPress

The steps below will help you update your WordPress site to use a new domain name. After changing the domain you may also need to update the domain on the hosting account itself.

If you have a Managed WordPress account, then you can skip these steps and update the domain in your hosting interface.

1. Log in to WordPress
2. Click on the Settings menu.
3. Select General.
4. Update these fields with the new domain name:
   • WordPress Address (URL)
   • Site Address
5. Click Save Changes.

Now you will need to update the domain name within your hosting control panel. (Web Hosting / cPanel / Plesk)

Next steps

• If your new domain is registered in a different account or with a third party, then you may need to locate your new IP address, so you can update the DNS.
